Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight with Four-Set Victory over Louisiana – Texas A&M Athletics

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M volleyball team continued its win streak with a four-set victory (25-12, 16-25, 25-13, 25-12) over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (4-3) Friday night inside Reed Arena.
 

Texas A&M (6-2) was led by Caroline Meuth, who turned in a 13-kill performance. Joining her was Logan Lednicky, who recorded 11 kills, while Madison Bowser finished with five blocks. As a team, the Aggies held the Ragin’ Cajuns to a .054 hitting percentage.
 
The Aggies opened the match on a 6-1 run behind a pair of kills from Molly Brown, before plays made by Elena Karakasi and Meuth forced Louisiana to call a timeout. Meuth’s match-leading fourth kill helped A&M charge ahead by 11, which included a six-point surge from the Aggies. An ace from Meuth in the closing points of the frame extended A&M’s cushion, before a service error by Louisiana handed the Maroon & White the set, 25-12.  
 
The Ragin’ Cajuns responded in the second set, running away with the 25-16 victory. Louisiana led by as many as four, before Logan Lednicky’s fifth kill silenced the surge. The visitors jumped back ahead by seven, before sealing it on a kill.
 
It was a back-and-forth battle with six ties to start the third, but Louisiana jumped out in front, 8-6. An ace from Ava Underwood helped the Aggies regain the lead as they never looked back, going on a 13-2 run to make it 23-11 in favor of A&M. Brown’s third kill of the set pushed the Aggies to set point, before grabbing it, 25-13, on a service error by Louisiana.
 

In the deciding set, the Maroon & White continued its momentum, opening on a 6-1 run behind a pair of aces from Underwood and Lauren Hogan. A&M jumped out to a seven-point advantage behind a handful of errors by the Ragin’ Cajuns, sitting in front, 10-3. Head coach Bird Kuhn used a challenge that reversed a call, giving Logan her fourth double-digit performance of her rookie campaign, before A&M secured the victory with a 25-12 fourth-set win.
