MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – The Waldorf volleyball team opened their season at Cardinal Stritch University for a triangular with Goshen College. The Warriors went 2-0, only dropping one set against the home team.

The Warriors beat Cardinal Stritch in four (29-27, 25-19, 19-25, 25-14). Sophomore right side hitter, Zoee Pond (Monroe, WI/Monroe HS) led the offense with 17 kills, on 26 attempts with only 3 errors. Senior setter, Kaityln Bakke (Forest Lake, MN/Forest Lake HS) earned an impressive 47 assists and 5 kills, Kaylee Kidd (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah HS), junior defensive specialist, with 26 digs and 3 service aces, and junior middle hitter, Charolette Wright (Porter, MN/Canby HS) getting 5 kills on attempts, hitting a .556.

The second match against Goshen College, the Warriors got it done in three (25-20, 25-12, 25-19). The team had 12 service aces with Laina Yurs (South Beloit, IL/Hononegah HS), sophomore right side having 4 of those 12 aces. Zoee Pond and Kenzie Kidd (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah HS), junior outside hitter, led the offense with 10 and 9 kills. Head coach Bri Ebenhoe is very pleased with how the day went. “We played very well, and still see how we can be an even better team. It is a great start to the year and almost every Warrior contributed. I’m happy with our effort and grit!”

The volleyball team takes on Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa on August 26th for their next match.
