FOREST CITY, IOWA – The Waldorf University volleyball team succeeded in sweeping Faith Baptist Bible College in straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-20) in non-conference action on Denny Jerome Court at Hanson Fieldhouse Tuesday.
Tuesday’s match marked the home opener for the Warriors (5-3), who spent the past two weekends participating in the Briar Cliff Tournament and the William Penn Labor Day Classic, respectively. The Warriors remain home for each of their next two contests.
The Warriors wasted no time gaining an early advantage in the match, claiming the first set 25-19, which enabled the Waldorf coaching staff to widen participation over the remainder of the evening. “I was very happy to see a balanced team win,” said Head Coach Bri Ebenhoe. “We did not skip a beat as we put new people in the game. Our patience and maturity paid off and are good signs as we continue to improve.”
With the victory, the Warriors have won two consecutive matches and five of their last seven. Their 5-3 start marks the first time in at least 15 seasons that a Waldorf team registered wins in at least five of its first eight matches.
The Warriors return to action on Friday, Sept. 10 when they face Briar Cliff University in a rematch of the Warriors’ 3-1 victory at Briar Cliff on Aug. 28. Friday’s game is slated for 7:00 p.m. on the Denny Jerome Court at Hanson Fieldhouse.
