Waldorf University – Warriors Put Up a Strong Fight But Can’t Get by Dakota State

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Waldorf women’s volleyball team had a great start to the night by taking the first two sets but could not get by (RV) Dakota State’s impressive blocking.

The Warriors came out strong in the first set with the middle duo of Abygail Wood and Charlotte Wright having a combined total of six kills and no errors. Wright and Zoee Pond each had two block assists. Waldorf took the first set 25-23.

For Set 2, the Warriors were in control of the entire set. Kenzie Kidd led the way with seven kills and Wood added four more. As a team, the Warriors had 18 kills on 33 attempts, with only three errors for a set win of 25-15.

Dakota State answered back for set 3 having five blocks and only one hitting error. The Trojans won 25-12. The Warriors fought back for set 4 with Wood adding five more kills.

Set 5 was a back and forth battle, but the Warriors came up short 13-15. Kidd finished the match with a double-double, 19 kills and 20 digs. Wood had 16 kills and setter Kaitlyn Bakke had 47 assists. Kaylee Kidd and Alisha Schaefer led the defense with 15 and 16 digs respectfully.

The Warriors are back in action at home for another conference matchup against (14) Bellevue University on Saturday, October 8th. First serve is at 1pm.
