Wild Third Set Leads UCLA to Victory over Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The UCLA women’s volleyball team tallied a season-high 72 kills in its 3-1 victory over Oregon State at Gill Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Bruins (15-12, 9-9 Pac-12) hit for .341 as a team which was their most in a match going beyond three sets this season. UCLA totaled 24 kills in the third set for its most in a set this season.
 
UCLA survived nine Oregon State set points to take the third frame, 35-33, and avoid falling into a 2-1 hole. The 35 points were the most scored in a set by UCLA in the 25-point era and its most since Oct. 11, 2007, when the Bruins scored 36 in the fourth set versus Oregon.
 
élan McCall came up with a big solo block and four kills between points 25 and 34, including the kill to send the final set point to the service line. Iman Ndiaye slammed finished off the wild frame with her fifth kill of the set. Four of those kills came after UCLA’s 25th point.
 
McCall finished the match with her tenth double-double of the season, tying a season-high with 18 kills (.350) and 13 digs. Charitie Luper also recorded a double-double with 14 kills (.297) and 13 digs.
 
Anna Dodson and Ndiaye joined the duo in double figures with 15 and 10 kills, respectively.
