Win Streak Extends For #11 Sand Devils

FORT WORTH, Texas – Behind clutch performances from courts two and three, No. 11 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball has now won four duals in a row after beating Florida Gulf Coast 4-1 and No. 14 Washington 3-2 on Friday at the Fight in the Fort at TCU.

Arizona State (13-3, 3-2 Pac-12) has won four duals in a row with the two wins today. The 13 wins are the fourth-most in a single season in program history. Additionally, the win over UW is the sixth ranked win of the season, extending the team record for ranked wins in a single season.

The No. 2 duo of sophomore Arden Besecker and freshman Ava Williamson continued their hot streak, winning both matches today to extend their winning streak to seven in a row. That is tied for the second-longest winning streak by an ASU pair in team history, tied with Berridge/Okaro (2017) and Parnell/Wedepohl (2016). Adding to their impressive season, this duo is now tied for 10th in ASU history for single season pairs record.

Graduate Lexi Sweeney and senior Taryn Ames won both of their matches today, both in three sets. The win against the Huskies clinched the dual, the second time this pair has clinched a 3-2 dual win over a ranked team (also against No. 2 Stanford).

Game One: #11 ASU 4, FGCU 1

For Besecker and Williamson, that was their sixth-straight win. Courts one and three went to three sets, with Taryn Ames and Lexi Sweeney pulling out a win.
