Women’s Volleyball Comes Up Short Against Holy Cross

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team was defeated by The College of Holy Cross on Tuesday night. Sydney Green led the Warriors with seven kills. Newcomer Mia Ardila led the squad in assists with 13 on the night. Cate Wright finished with a team-high nine digs.

Rapid Recap

  • Both teams battled to a tie score of four. Merrimack then went on a six-point run, finished off with a kill from Julz Carlat. The Crusaders then nearly matched the Warriors with a four-point run of their own to cut the lead to three. Back-to-back aces by Amanda Gately put Merrimack up by six. Holy Cross added six points, going down one. The Crusaders then stormed by going up by three and finishing the set, winning by four.   
  • Holy Cross went up quickly, 11-4. The Warriors then battled back to cut the lead to five after a kill by Green started the run. The Crusaders then added four points to go up nine. A kill by Carlat ended the run. Merrimack scored six of the final nine points of the set, but could not compete the comeback. 
  • Like in the second set, Holy Cross jumped out to an early lead. An ace from Carlat brought the Warriors within two. The Crusaders then scored seven straight points to go up eight. Three straight points by Merrimack got the lead down to five. The Crusaders found themselves up by six, with only six point left to earn. Merrimack then went on a four-point run to get…
