Women's Volleyball Head Coach Lauren Brough Introduces Class of 2027


COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College women’s volleyball head coach Lauren Brough introduced a five-woman Class of 2027 on Tuesday, bolstering a squad that relied heavily upon underclass talent last fall.

Grace Almeida
Hometown: Clifton Park, N.Y.
High School: Shenendehowa High School
Position: Middle Blocker
Noteworthy: New York State Class AA champion, Suburban Council All-Star first team (2022), second team (2021) and honorable mention (2020), Hendrick Hudson Tournament All-Tournament Team
Coach Brough: “Adding Grace to our roster was a no-brainer. She is both an offensive and defensive weapon and consistently finds the holes in the block. We are most excited to see how her reading skills and quickness will contribute to the program’s blocking statistics. Her infectious energy, leadership skills, and commitment will bring our team chemistry to a whole new level.”

Kyla Farnan
Hometown: Phoenix, Ariz.
High School: Pinnacle High School
Positions: Defensive Specialist/Libero
Noteworthy: 2022 all-region second team, 2022 all-conference first team
Coach Brough: “We are already impressed with Kyla’s team-first mentality and her deep commitment to moving our program forward. Kyla brings with her a high volleyIQ and remarkable reading abilities, as well as unrivaled drive. Her defensive range and extension abilities are indicative of an elite athlete, and her consistency in serve/receive will give us more flexibility to run a creative offense.”

Ashley Marshall
Hometown: Escondido, Calif.
High School: Escondido Charter High School
Position: Setter
Noteworthy: Two-year captain, 2022 all-conference second team, 2021 all-conference honorable mention
Coach Brough: “Ashley already embodies many of the characteristics of a Purple Knight and will be an excellent representation of our team and the school as a whole. On the court, Ash has the length and athleticism to give us multiple options in terms of running an offense, and she has a very high ceiling for potential. She is a precise, consistent setter that will provide a steady foundation for our hitters.”
