ALBANY, N.Y. – The Saint Michael’s College women’s volleyball team lost at The College of Saint Rose, 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-17), on Saturday during Northeast-10 Conference play in Nolan Gymnasium.

THE ACTION

  • Welch had a pair of kills to help the Purple Knights nab a 4-2 lead in the opening set, and they forged back ahead at 6-5 on Wright’s ace. After first-year Joanna Forrest had a pair of aces in a 4-0 Golden Knight response, the visitors forged a 9-9 tie when Syverson and junior Haley Stanton (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) combined on a block. However, Saint Rose tallied eight of the nine points and never again led by fewer than four points.
  • Patterson’s kill brought Saint Michael’s within 6-5 during the second set before the next six points went to Saint Rose, which never again led by fewer than five points.
  • Saint Michael’s put together a 5-1 run to take an 8-7 lead in set No. 3 when Báez Rentas and Curley combined for a block. The hosts countered with a 7-1 run before Patterson’s kill had her team down just 14-11. Saint Rose netted the next three points, building no less than a five-point cushion from there.
