The leaders of the 2022–23 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship, Jastrzębski Węgiel, will be weakened for the rest of the season.
In the first set of the match of the 14th round of PlusLiga against Cerrad Enea Czarni Radom on December 6, the Jastrzębski starting middle blocker, Łukasz Wiśniewski, suffered a serious injury and had to leave the field. He jumped up with Jan Hadrava for a double block. When landing, both players collided with their knees, which resulted in Wiśniewski falling to the floor. He left the court and could no longer return to the game.
Subsequent examinations and magnetic resonance imaging confirmed a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and damage to the meniscus. This means that Wiśniewski won’t play this season anymore. The former Poland National Team member will undergo surgery, followed by a longer rehabilitation.
