RALEIGH – NC State volleyball dropped the opening leg of its Friday doubleheader to Western Carolina 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 21-25) in Reynolds Coliseum, with the Wolfpack’s record falling to 5-3 on the season.
Set One (19-25)
The Catamounts got off to a quick start in the opening set grabbing a 6-1 lead, forcing the Wolfpack into an early timeout. NC State struggled to gain momentum throughout the contest with Western Carolina leading the way throughout the entire set, finishing off the Wolfpack with a 25-19 defeat.
Set Two (21-25)
After falling behind early once again, NC State found itself in front for the first time during the game in the second set, gaining a 14-13 edge, then surrendering a run to the Catamounts to close the set and give Western a 25-21 win.
Set Three (21-25)
Next Up:
Head Coach Luka Slabe‘s squad will next take on TCU in the final game of the NC State Classic at 7 p.m. on Friday in Reynolds Coliseum.
