Murr and Podraza Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten announced its weekly women’s volleyball awards on Monday. Senior libero Kylie Murr was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while senior setter Mac Podraza was named Big Ten Co-Setter of the Week for the second time this season. The Buckeyes improved to 3-1 in conference play last week with wins at RV Michigan and Indiana.

Kylie Murr was locked in again to lead the Buckeye defense to a pair of road wins as she now sits just three digs shy of tying for second place on Ohio State’s all-time career digs list. This past week, Murr averaged 5.13 digs per set. She totaled a season-high 19 digs at RV Michigan before out-doing herself with a new season-high of 22 digs at Indiana. Against the Hoosiers, Murr also added five assists. These were the 10th and 11th matches of the season that Murr has totaled at least 10 digs as she is averaging 3.81 digs per set on the season, ranking seventh in the Big Ten.

Mac Podraza moved up to eighth in program history in career assists on Saturday as she now owns 3,157 assists as a Buckeye. Last week, Podraza averaged 11.00 assists, 1.63 digs and 0.75 blocks per set to lead Ohio State to a pair of road victories. At RV Michigan, Podraza totaled 48 assists, eight digs and tied her season-high six blocks. She followed up with 40 assists and five digs in the win at Indiana. Podraza leads the Big Ten in assists per set as she’s now averaging 10.58 assists per set this season. Podraza is also averaging 2.16 digs per set.
