Lewis Men’s Volleyball Defeats Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men’s volleyball team bounced back after defeating Purdue Fort Wayne 3-1 at Neil Carey Arena Saturday (March 24).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 23

  • Both teams each scored eight points to start the opening set. 
  • Lewis rallied for three straight which was capped off by a block by Elias-Rodriguez and Morgan. 
  • The Mastadons responded and took a 18-17 lead moments later. 
  • Lewis got the next point after a kill from Brillhart and PFW went on a 5-1 run which helped them to a 25-23 set victory.

SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Purdue Fort Wayne 18

  • Purdue Fort Wayne started the set ahead 3-1 before Lewis recorded four straight kills.
  • Moments later, Sack recorded back-to-back service aces for a 8-4 lead. 
  • The Mastadons looked to respond and cut it down to two before the Flyers scored four straight. 
  • Lewis was able to hang on and tied it at 1-1 after winning the second set 25-18.
