NORTH ANDOVER, MASS – The Merrimack College Women’s Volleyball team, announced their 2023 schedule which is set to begin in late August. Home games will be played on Hammel Court with the schedule featuring 14 conference matches where each team is played twice. There will be 15 non-conference matches played throughout the season. Merrimack is coming off its best season since becoming a Division I member during the 2019-20 season.
The Warriors open up the season with eight straight non-conference road matches. Merrimack will start the season at the Bearcat Classic, which is hosted by Binghamton University. The squad will play the host team first on August 25. The following day the Warriors will play two matches, the first against St. Peter’s University, who Merrimack beat last season. A few hours later the squad will take on Duquesne University. The following weekend, Merrimack will head to the UConn Invite. The Warriors will open up Friday against Lehigh University on September 1. The next day, Merrimack will take on the host school, followed by Hofstra University. A matchup at the College of Holy Cross on September eight concludes the Warriors seven road match streak. Merrimack finally comes home on September 10 to take on the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
The squad then heads back on the road the following Thursday to take on Harvard University. The next day Merrimack will take on Providence College at Boston College. On September 17 the Warriors will square off against the Eagles of Boston College who are coming off a National Invitational Volleyball Championship. On Wednesday, September 20, Merrimack will take on former Northeast Conference foe Bryant University at home before getting into conference play.
Conference play opens up with five straight home matches for the Warriors. Saint Francis University comes to town on September 22. The following day, newly added NEC member Le Moyne College will make its return to North Andover. The following Friday and Saturday, Central Connecticut State University and Sacred Heart University with be on Hammel Court. The home stand concludes with a match against Stonehill College on October 6. The Skyhawks are now in year two of their Division I transition.
