COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri volleyball team (5-1) will hit the road for the first time in 2023, when it travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the Xavier Tournament this weekend. The Tigers are set to take on Buffalo (6-0) and Bellarmine (2-4) in the opening day of the Tournament on Friday at the Cintas Center. Match times are set for 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., CT Friday. Mizzou will then conclude the weekend against host Xavier (3-3) Saturday at 11 a.m., CT.
Saturday’s match with Xavier will be streamed live on FloVolleyball ($).
SERIES HISTORY
- Missouri leads the all-time series with Xavier, 4-2.
- The Tigers most recently edged the Musketeers, 3-0, in the Puerto Rico Classic opener on Aug. 31, 2018. Mizzou has won each of the last two meetings with Xavier dating back to 2014 (Sept. 6, 3-2 Mizzou win in Columbia, Missouri).
- The Tigers will face Buffalo and Bellarmine for the first-time ever in volleyball this weekend.
TIGER INVITATIONAL RECAP
- Mizzou started the Invitational with a pair of 3-0 sweeps of Northern Kentucky and South Dakota, Sept 1-2.
- The Tigers picked up back-to-back 3-0 sweeps for the first time since the 2022 Mizzou Invitational where the Tigers earned wins over Missouri State and Northwestern State to wrap the tournament Sept. 2-3.
- Missouri closed this past weekend’s tournament with a 3-0 loss to #3-ranked Louisville on Sept. 3.
