ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — The Lewis men’s volleyball team starts its home slate for the 2024 season this week as the Flyers take on reigning national champion and No. 1 UCLA Thursday (Jan. 11) and No. 9 BYU Saturday (Jan. 13).

Series History vs. UCLA
Thursday marks the 22nd all-time meeting between the two programs. UCLA leads the all-time series 18-3 but Lewis did win the last contest back on January 29, 2022 where the Flyers swept the Bruins.
Jason Gibbs led the way with 10 kills. Tyler Morgan (Dike, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford) recorded 17 assists in the match while Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) recorded seven kills.
Series History vs. BYU
This will be the 23rd meeting between these two programs. BYU leads the all-time series 20-2 and won the most recent meeting last season on January 7, 2023 3-1. Roquet led the Flyers with 10 kills while Morgan recorded 34 assists.
Last Week in Review
Lewis went 1-1 last week, defeating Central State Friday 3-0 before falling in five sets to No. 6 Penn State. Daniel Haber (Remsenburg, NY/Westhampton Beach) led the way for the Flyers after recording 17 kills on a .433 attack percentage.
Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) also recorded 17 kills while picking up seven blocks at the net. Morgan recorded 64 assists during both matches.
NCAA Division I-II Rankings
Lewis moves up one spot in the rankings and is now No. 15 in the AVCA/NVA Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll.
UCLA is ranked No. 1 poll and BYU is ninth.
