All four of the top women’s seeds are into the winners bracket. There were surprise first-round victories by the 28th, 27th, and 26th-seeded teams Friday.
The No, 28 seed, Maya Gessner and Jacina Ramirez, knocked off fifth-seeded April Ross and Alix Klineman, 27th-seeded Piper Ferch and Lindsey Sparks swept sixth-seeded Kylie Deberg and Hailey Harward, 26th-seeded Charlie Ekstrom and Katie Lindstrom did the same to seventh-seeded Lexy Denaburg and Deahna Kraft. Only Gessner and Ramirez won their next match.
Seeds 1-4 are also in the men’s winners bracket. Fifth-seeded Olympians Chase Budinger and Miles Evans lost their second-round match to 12th-seeded Tri Bourne and Ryan Wilcox.
