Price-Spraggins, Strzelczyk, Trevino earn first RRAC volleyball weekly awards of 2021

WACO, Texas — Vivica Price-Spraggins of Xavier University (La.) was recognized as the RRAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Aug. 23-29. Madelynn Strzelczyk of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) earned selection as the RRAC Setter of the Week, and OLLU’s Tina Trevino was named RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates in the first edition of awards for the 2021 RRAC volleyball season.
Price-Spraggins posted a .409 hitting percentage in the Gold Nuggets’ five-set loss to Wayland Baptist University (Texas) to open the season. The fifth-year middle blocker from Chicago delivered 12 kills on 22 attacks with only three errors. Price-Spraggins also contributed four digs and two blocks.
Strzelczyk led the San Antonio ShinDIG Tournament with 108 assists as host OLLU went 2-1 in three matches. The sophomore setter from Marion, Texas, opened the season with 48 assists in a 3-2 victory for the Saints over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas). For the weekend, she averaged 9.8 assists and 2.0 digs per set.
Trevino made her college debut with a team-best 54 digs for the Saints in the ShinDIG event. The freshman defensive specialist from Laredo, Texas, averaged 4.9 digs per set with a high total of 24 digs in a three-set loss to SAGU to close the tournament.
