BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M volleyball team claimed its seventh-straight win and fifth sweep of the season as it downed UNI on the second day of the Texas A&M Invitational (25-19, 25-23, 25-23).
The squads opened the match scoring back-and-forth as the they were knotted early at three. The Aggies (7-0) broke the deadlock with a 9-3 run as they led, 12-6. UNI (4-4) responded with a streak of its own, narrowing the gap to four (17-13). The Panthers held their rhythm prompting a timeout from head coach Jamie Morrison (21-19). The Maroon & White answered the call following the timeout, scoring four-straight points to claim the opening set, 25-19.
Sophomore Logan Lednicky got the second frame started with back-to-back kills, providing an early cushion (2-0). UNI tied the score, which was then followed by a run from both teams as they were all square at eight. The Aggies ended the stalemate, as they went on a 9-2 run to lead, 17-10. The Panthers came right back with a 7-2 streak of their own, shrinking the A&M advantage to two (19-17). UNI knotted the teams at 21, but the Maroon & White flipped the momentum with a 4-2 run to secure the second frame, 25-23.
The Aggies held a narrow gap through the beginning of the third set but eventually created separation forcing a Panther timeout, 10-6. UNI went on a charge to bring the squads within one point, 11-10. Neither team gave an inch as they were knotted once again at 23. Needing a spark, the Maroon & White got one from Ifenna Cos-Okpalla as she logged a kill followed by a solo block to claim the set (25-23) and match, 3-0.

The Maroon & White return to Reed Arena tomorrow for the final day of the Texas A&M Invitational where they face TCU with first serve set for 4 p.m.
