Alabama Sweeps Missouri Wednesday in Tuscaloosa for First SEC Win

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – With both teams seeking their first SEC win of the season Wednesday night in Foster Auditorium, Alabama fought back from a late deficit against Missouri to win set two and closed it out with a decisive 15-point victory in the third to clinch the sweep for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama (7-12, 1-6 SEC) overcame a 17-13 lead by Missouri (7-8, 0-5 SEC) in set one to win 25-21 and overcame an even larger gap in the second. With the Tigers ahead 23-16, the Tide rattled off six unanswered to draw within a point before a Missouri kill gave the visitors set point. A block from Alyiah Wells and Sami Jacobs and a kill from Wells swung set point in Alabama’s favor, 26-25, and the teams would trade back-and-forth one more time before Kendyl Reaugh eventually closed it out with a kill to win, 29-27. The third set was all Crimson Tide from the start, pulling ahead 6-1 before cruising to a 25-10 win to complete the sweep.

Alabama hit .266 as a team, its highest clip in conference play this season, and had four players with double-digit kills led by 14 from Wells. The senior middle blocker also stuffed four blocks, putting her 12 away from the 300th of her career. Abby Marjama continued to be a force at the service line, finishing with four on Wednesday to improve her SEC-leading season total to 45.
