Sophomore women’s volleyball middle blocker Alexa Guedez (Rye/Rye Neck) and junior men’s soccer midfielder Mateo Marra (Ossining) have been named the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9.
Alexa averaged 1.8 blocks per set and also totaled 18 kills (2.3 per set) in two conference road victories. She had nine blocks, two solo, in a four-set win at Geneseo on Friday and recorded five blocks, two solo, in a five-set win at Brockport Saturday.
Mateo registered three goals and three assists in three road victories. In a 3-0 win at Hobart, Marra scored twice, including the game winner, and added an assist. He then scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory at Buffalo St. and had two assists in a 3-1 win at Ithaca.
