All-CC Volleyball Team: Zhang, Mangum & Jones Collect Major Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. — Swarthmore’s Kaylee Zhang, Franklin & Marshall’s Meredith Mangum, Haverford’s Taylor Jones, Johns Hopkins’ Simone Adam and the Swarthmore coaching staff received major awards to lead the 2022 All-Centennial Volleyball Team.

Zhang, a junior outside hitter for the Garnet, was named Player of the Year. Zhang becomes just the second Swarthmore player to receive the conference’s top honor, joining Sarah Wallace (2015). Zhang is now a two-time All-Centennial honoree after earning second team honors last fall.

Mangum and Jones were selected as Co-Defensive Players of the Year in the inaugural year of the award. Jones, a sophomore middle blocker for the Fords, was also named to the All-CC second team and is now a two-time honoree after collecting honorable mention accolades in 2021. Mangum, a junior libero for the Diplomats, also earned honorable mention laurels for the first all-conference award of her career.

JHU’s Adam earned Rookie of the Year accolades and was named to the All-CC first team. The freshman outside hitter becomes the fourth Blue Jay to be named the top rookie in the 10-year history of the award. Adam is the 17th freshman in conference history to be named to the first team.

The Swarthmore coaching staff was tabbed as Coaching Staff of the Year. Head coach Harleigh Chwastyk and associate head coach Linda Zhang have led the Garnet to a 17-8 overall regular season record and 9-1 mark in conference play.

Six different teams were represented on the All-Centennial first team, headlined by a quartet of repeat all-stars, including Swarthmore’s Zhang. Gettysburg’s Zanze Kuba-McCoy and Dickinson’s Emma Lange captured all-conference honors for the third time. Both were first teamers in 2021 and second teamers in 2019. Muhlenberg’s Allysa Faville received first-team accolades for the first time after receiving honorable mention accolades last fall.

JHU’s Adam, F&M’s Sydney Levins and Swarthmore’s Dani Pena rounded out the first team selections, with each earning all-conference distinction for the first time.

Hopkins and Swarthmore led the way with four All-Centennial honorees apiece. Joining Adam on the all-star team for the Blue Jays were Helena Swaak (2nd team), Roxy Karrer (honorable mention) and Alice Yu (honorable mention).
