Babcock Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week


PITTSBURGH – For the first time this season, Olivia Babcock was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday afternoon. This is the second Offensive Player of the Week award for Babcock and eighth career weekly honor.

Babcock notched 17 kills in a sweep over No. 23 USC last Wednesday and hit .250. She also added five digs, three blocks and two aces. Babcock and the Panthers headed to Malibu for the Asics Classic Tournament at Pepperdine and continued her impressive play. Babcock registered 14 kills and hit .407 against the Waves, while notching nine digs, three blocks and two aces. She followed that up with 15 kills, six digs, two aces, a block and an assist against UC Santa Barbara, hitting .419. On the weekend, she averaged 6.17 points per set, 5.11 kills per set, 2.22 digs per set, 0.78 blocks per set and 0.67 aces per set on the weekend, hitting .347.

Babcock and the Panthers return to the court on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in a top-five match against Penn State at the Petersen Events Center.
