Beach Dawgs Earn Multiple Conference Awards

SAN FRANCISCO— The Beach Dawgs took home three Pac-12 Conference awards today, highlighting the strength of the lineup that led the team to the National Championship tournament for the first time. Freshman Zoey Henson and graduate student Piper Monk-Heidrich were both honored with an All-Conference Second Team spot. Henson was also named to the All-Freshman team.

Henson is the first Husky to be named to the All-Freshman team ever. Her performance shattered the high expectations set for her by CollegeBeachVB.com, who named her their Preseason Freshman of the Year before the season started.

This year, Henson amassed the third most wins in a single season for the Huskies with 25. Her performance came in part due to her pairing with junior Lauren Wilcock this season. The duo nabbed the second most wins for a pair in a single season with 20 for the Huskies. Their performance earned them national recognition too when they won the Pac-12 and National Pair of the Week in early April.

With her All-Conference Second Team Spot, Monk-Heidrich has earned her first career conference award, an exciting achievement for the grad student. She has been integral to the Huskies’ success, having held down the number one pair spot the entire year for the Huskies, earning ranked wins against some of the best teams in the nation.

She got the best of No. 4 Texas Christian University and No. 6 Louisiana State University to open the season. She was crucial to the dismantling of No. 7 California in early April, which gave the Beach Dawgs their highest-ranked win ever. Monk-Heidrich sits in eighth all-time in career wins for the Huskies.
