Beach Volleyball Falls to No. 4 TCU 2-3 on Saturday


Fort Worth, Texas —  The University of Washington Beach Volleyball team closed their time in Texas with a 2-3 loss to No. 4 Texas Christian University on Saturday.

 

The Huskies took on No. 4 TCU for the second time this season. They improved compared to the first dual, picking up an extra win.

 

Natalie Martin and Kierstyn Barton (No. 4) extended their winning streak to four matches as they battled through two ties and two lead changes in the first nine total points scored during the second set. The duo pulled ahead at 8-5 and never gave up the lead, forcing a third set. The third set went their way as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead and never gave up it up. They even pushed the lead to eight points, winning 15-7.

 

Zoey Henson and Maggy Rabitsch (No. 2) went toe to toe in the first set, which featured five lead changes and six ties, winning 21-19. The duo fell in another back-and-forth set, which had three ties and five lead changes. Henson and Rabitsch held the lead 5-2 before TCU had to forfeit, giving the Dawgs the match victory.

 

The Beach Dawgs wrapped up their time in Texas going 4-2 as they picked up a win against No. 13 Florida International and their first winning road trip of the season.

 

Up Next: The Huskies will host their first home match at Alki Beach in Seattle on April 5 and 6. Stanford, Arizona State, Berkeley, and Oregon will venture up to participate in the Pac-12 North Tournament.
