Bears Set For Pac-12 Championship



No. 4-Seeded Cal Faces No. 5 Washington In First Round

BERKELEY –The 2024 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship field was finalized Monday, setting up a first-round matchup between fourth-seeded California and fifth-seeded Washington on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. in Tempe, Arizona.
 
The Golden Bears (22-11) split the two-match regular season series with the Huskies (18-13), winning the most recent meeting between the two programs this past weekend, 4-1.

All tournament matches will be aired live on Pac-12 Networks with live scoring also available on CalBears.com.
 
CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Bears finished second in the 2023 Pac-12 Championship, marking their best outing at the conference tournament in program history. Cal took down Arizona State, host Stanford and second-seeded USC before ultimately falling to top-seeded UCLA, and became the first team other than the Trojans and Bruins to make the final.
 
SELECTION SUNDAY
The NCAA Championship selection show is scheduled for Sunday at 8 a.m. on NCAA.com. The Bears are looking to make the trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the third straight year and third time in program history.

BEARS IN THE RANKINGS

After ending 2023 ranked seventh in the final AVCA poll, Cal entered this year with a No. 8 national ranking, three spots higher than its starting spot prior to the 2023 season. Following three weeks of action, the Bears earned their first-ever top-6 ranking from CollegeBeachVB.com and the AVCA Coaches Poll. Cal is currently ranked seventh by CollegeBeachVB.com and eighth in the AVCA Coaches Poll.

 

MLESTONE MADE

Junior Ella Dreibholz picked up a pair of wins at the Stanford Invitational last weekend and became the fourth Bear in program history to reach 75 career wins. She now boasts a 75-28 record and is 22-6 this season.

50-WIN CLUB

Junior Alexandria Young-Gomez and graduate student Lara Boos hit a career milestone last month, reaching 50 career wins as individuals. Boos joined the club with a court-four win over Feather River College on March 26 and Young-Gomez hit the mark with a victory over LSU’s court-four pair just three days later.

CAL TO JOIN MPSF IN 2025
