Interested hosts are welcome to submit the expression of interest by 8 December 2023.
The FIVB is delighted to launch the bidding process for the inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ and Boys’ U17 World Championships, scheduled to take place between 1 and 31 August 2024.
The prestigious tournament will be held every two years with a total of 16 teams per gender participating in an eight-day event with a total of 56 games livestreamed on Volleyball World’s YouTube channel. The competition was introduced by the FIVB to provide more opportunities for talented young volleyball players to participate in world-class, international events.
One quota space will be allocated to the host team, while three quota places will be available per Continental Confederation for teams to qualify via the respective Age Group Continental Championships held in 2023.
Interested parties looking to host this exciting new championship are encouraged to submit their Expression of Interest to volleyball@fivb.com, by no later than 6pm Central European Time on 8 December 2023.
U17 World Championships join the FIVB Age Group event portfolio in 2024
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
“We are delighted to introduce the U17 World Championships into our age group event categories for players born on or after 1 January 2008. These tournaments are extremely important for the development of athletes and their sporting careers, providing a unique opportunity to experience the global sports stage.
“We would like to invite all our 222 National Federations to consider hosting these U17 Championships. This event will not only showcase your country’s hosting capabilities but also brings incredible volleyball action to your communities. Age group competitions always attract huge interest from fans across the world, and we will continue to invest in these to showcase the best of volleyball’s rising stars.”
