Blue Jays Split with Yellow Jackets, Knights on Senior Day

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Elizabethtown College men’s volleyball celebrated senior Tim Zeiber before the start of the teams second match, as the Blue Jays fell to Randolph-Macon, 3-0, before sweeping Neumann to complete a split Saturday afternoon.

Etown finished the day with a 13-10 record over all and a 2-5 mark in Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) play. The Yellow Jackets won both of their matches to move to 15-9 on the season and 3-4 in the league. The Knights end the season 7-14.

MATCH ONE: RANDOLPH-MACON 3 ELIZABETHTOWN 0

Randolph-Macon opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Elizabethtown for its third CVC victory of the season.

The Blue Jays were paced by juniors Blake Hildebrand and Steve Swain. Hildebrand finished with a team-high 12 kills and six digs, while Swain tallied 10 kills and a team-best six digs. Sophomore Nate Seeger racked up 29 assists.

Sophomore Drew Klein hit .333 with a team-high 12 kills to pace the Yellow Jackets.

Trailing 10-9 early in the first set, Etown rattled off four consecutive points, capped off by a block from junior Tony Camillo and sophomore Nick Chapman, to take a 13-10 lead. Randolph-Macon responded, going on an 8-1 run to reclaim the advantage at 18-14. The Blue Jays would close within one four more time throughout the opening frame, but could not get over the hump, falling to the Yellow Jackets 25-21 in set one.
