Caffo Named To USA U23 NORCECA Roster

Senior To Compete In Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic

BERKELEY- Senior captain Sierra Caffo of the California beach volleyball team was named to the U.S. U23 Beach National Team for the 2023 NORCECA Beach Championship, as announced by the organization last weekend. Caffo heads to Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic, for the tournament that runs from today through Friday.

Caffo will be paired with Ella Larkin, her former teammate at LSU. The U.S. is being represented by two men’s pairs and two women’s pairs.

Caffo enjoyed an outstanding debut season with the Golden Bears in 2023, posting a 24-12 record. The junior transfer was 8-0 on courts two and four before quickly rising to top spot in the lineup, where she led the team with 10 wins. Caffo clinched several matches for the Bears, including the Pac-12 Championship semifinal match against rival Stanford to give the Bears their first finals berth in program history.

The Bears are coming off a historic 2023 campaign where they broke the program’s win record going 29-10. That growth continued into the postseason with victories over second-seeded USC and the tournament’s host, fourth-seeded Stanford. Cal became just the third different team to advance to the final. For the second-straight year the Bears were selected to the NCAA Championship and decided to break one more record by earning their first tournament win over No. 9 Long Beach State 3-2.
