PITTSBURGH, PA – Senior Cat Flood has announced that she will return for her fifth and final year of eligibility in the 2024 season. Flood has been influential in helping Pitt reach its third straight Final Four.
“Cat Flood has been a tremendous role model in this community, a wonderful teammate, and we are thrilled to have her back,” says Head Coach Dan Fisher. “She has been a big part of three Final Fours and an Elite Eight, understands our culture and what it takes to win. We are thrilled that this upcoming season fits for Cat both academically and athletically. This is a big win for Pitt volleyball.”
Flood has made the biggest impact behind the service line in her career, notching 33 aces in the last two seasons. She also recorded 43 digs and six assists last season while registering a career-high three kills against Syracuse at home. Flood’s 4-0 run in the fifth set in the Regional Finals against Wisconsin in 2022 was influential in the upset over the Badgers. She will help provide leadership to a young squad alongside Rachel Fairbanks, Emmy Klika and Valeria Vazquez Gomez.
Flood will graduate in April with her Media and Professional Communications degree with a certificate in Sports Studies and Corporate And Community Relations. She will pursue her master’s degree in the fall.
“There is no place like home,” says Cat Flood. “I’m not ready to leave the hard work we’ve put behind. I’m ready for what next season will bring. Hail to Pitt, always!”
