Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Sept. 12-18


LANCASTER, Pa. — Week three of the fall 2022 is now complete as conference play opened up in men’s and women’s soccer. Centennial action begins this week in field hockey and volleyball. 

Last week’s award winners were headlined by a pair of repeat winners from Johns Hopkins – Alex Ross of women’s cross country and Alex Morgret of men’s soccer. Other honorees from Sept. 12-18 included Ryan Kredell of Haverford men’s cross country, Hazel Miller and Maggie Titus of Bryn Mawr field hockey, Oscar Horwitz of Franklin & Marshall men’s soccer, Katie Sullivan of Johns Hopkins women’s soccer, Hailey Sharpe of Washington College women’s soccer, Kaylee Zhang of Swarthmore volleyball and Mary Huegel of Gettysburg volleyball.

Athlete of the Week

Ryan Kredell, Jr., Haverford

Geneva, Ill. | Geneva Community

Kredell was the fifth runner overall to toe the line and the top Division III finisher at the Main Line Invitational on Friday. Kredell completed the four-mile race in 19:30.5 for a mile pace of 4:53. In the team standings, Haverford beat out Division I Penn and was second to only to the 16th-ranked team in Division I, Villanova. 

Athlete of the Week

Alex Ross, Gr., Johns Hopkins

Glastonbury, Conn. | Glastonbury

Ross earned Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this year after finishing sixth overall and first among Division III runners at Michigan State’s 19-team Spartan Invitational. Ross finished with a time of 21:33.69 to help lead the Blue Jays to fourth place in the team standings. JHU was one of just four Division III teams to compete and only four runners from Michigan State and one from Division II Grand Valley State finished ahead of Ross in the 231-person field.

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Hazel Miller, So., F, Bryn Mawr 

Newport, Pa. | Newport

Miller registered two goals and two assists in an impressive 3-0 week for the Owls that featured wins over Delaware Valley, Christopher Newport and Mary Washington. Miller opened the week with an assist on an insurance goal during a 2-0 home victory over Delaware Valley. Against 18th-ranked…
