Conti Garners Empire 8 Co-Rookie of the Week Honors


ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Empire 8 Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday, with right-side Madi Conti ’28 earning Co-Rookie of the Week honors for the Elmira College women’s volleyball program.

The Peachtree City, Georgia native helped the Soaring Eagles notch their first win of the season over the weekend while participating in the SUNY Cobleskill Quad Tournament. Conti started all three matches for the Purple & Gold and averaged 3.08 kills per set to go along with a .352 attack percentage through 13 sets played.

Conti recorded 16 kills and finished with a .424 attack percentage in a five-set victory on Friday against SUNY Cobleskill as she accounted for 17 points for the Soaring Eagles.

In the second match of the day for the Purple & Gold on Saturday, Conti notched a career-high 19 kills on 40 attempts to go along with 20 points as Elmira dropped a five-set decision against SUNY Potsdam after rallying from a 2-0 deficit.

Conti finished the week with 40 kills, four solo blocks, 44 points, and 3.38 points per set for the Soaring Eagles. She leads the team this season with 58 kills and is tied for the lead (Morgan Sica ’28) with seven blocks.

The Soaring Eagles return to Speidel Gymnasium this weekend for a tri-match on Saturday, September 14 against Marywood University and Misericordia University beginning at 11:00 A.M.
