Defending champions Dar Kulaib, led by superstar Mohammed Yaqoob, and Al Ahli powered past their respective rivals in the semifinals of the Isa bin Rashid Volleyball League at Isa Bin Rashid Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa, Bahrain to next battle it out for the eventual title.
Al Ahli, the 2021-22 Bahrain League winners, made it to the finals after brushing off Al Najma in the semifinals, while reigning champs Dar Kulaib also made their mark to pull off a dramatic 3-1 (25-20, 25-14, 20-25, 25-23) win against Al Muharraq in the same stage. However, as Dar Kulaib played in their one-off semifinal contest, in which they held a twice-to-beat advantage having been number one seeds in the league’s Top 6 stage, Al Ahli had to play the best-of-three semifinals against Al Najma. Al Ahli won the first game 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22) and took the second one with the same margin 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23).
The best-of-3 final series among the top two teams will be played on March 17, 20 and 23, whereas Al Najma and Al Muharraq will compete in the third-place playoff for bronze medal on March 18.
In the previous season, Dar Kulaib were crowned champions of the 2022-23 Isa bin Rashid Volleyball League following their 3-0 victory in the second game of their best-of-three championship series, thus completing a two-game sweep.
