The beach paravolley scene is about to get a serious dose of sizzle with appointment of David Cox as World ParaVolley’s Assistant Sport Director for beach paravolley.
With nearly three decades of experience in volleyball and beach volleyball, Cox brings expertise and passion for the Para sport discipline.
“David brings a wealth of experience in volleyball administration and most importantly, beach volleyball, to become the driving force for the development of beach paravolley as a world discipline and to chart the pathway for its inclusion in the Paralympic Games,” World ParaVolley Sport Director Stephen Giugni said.
Cox’s extensive background includes roles as an international referee, referee delegate, technical delegate, tournament director and event manager. His portfolio boasts an impressive array of major events, including the Beach Volleyball World Championships, World Tour events for FIVB and CEV and the final Continental Olympic Qualification tournaments.
His expertise in creating, organising, managing and hosting national and international events is beyond compare. His leadership was instrumental in the success of events. Moreover, his current role as Director of the Competition and Events Department in the Norwegian Volleyball Federation underscores his capability in delivering top-tier competitions.
His commitment to conflict management and peace-building is also noteworthy. Through his personal company, he has spearheaded initiatives in the Balkans, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Northern Africa and South America, drawing upon the principles of the South African Truth and Reconciliation process and the philosophy of UBUNTU (‘I am a human because of you’).
In his role with World ParaVolley, Cox is confident to elevate the profile of beach paravolley and drive positive change within the discipline. His vision and his organisational expertise promises an exciting, new chapter for beach paravolley.
