Ducks Host No. 24 USC on Senior Day


EUGENE, Ore. – On the heels of four-consecutive road matches, the No. 6 Oregon volleyball team is back on its home floor Tuesday night against No. 24 USC. First serve of the top-25 matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. (PT) at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks enter the final week of the regular season at 24-5 overall with a 14-4 mark in Pac-12 play.
 
Tuesday will double as Senior Day in which the Ducks’ seven-player senior class and two members of the support staff will be celebrated in a post-match ceremony.

Series Info vs USC
The Ducks have won seven of the past 10 meetings in the series with USC, six of those victories coming in five sets. In the recent history between the two programs, Oregon has won 11 of 20 going back to the 2012 season which accounts for more than half of the team’s wins in the all-time series (19). The Trojans won 47 of the first 56 meetings, and lead the all-time series 57-19.
 
In the Polls
For a third-consecutive week, the Ducks check in as the No. 6 team in the country in the AVCA coaches poll. The team is also up a spot to No. 7 in the most recent RPI release. Tuesday marks the 11th match against a ranked opponent for Oregon, and its fourth top-25 matchup at Matthew Knight Arena. USC is ranked 24th in the AVCA poll.
 
Last Time Out
The Ducks completed a 2-0 weekend in the desert with a straight-set win over Arizona (Nov. 19). The team generated a .425 hitting percentage, its fifth outing of the year at .400 or higher. Oregon got its weekend started with a 3-1 win over No. 18 Arizona State (Nov. 17) in Tempe, good for its fifth top-25 win of the season.
 
Pick Your Poison
Oregon’s offensive depth was on full display in its Nov. 19 win at Arizona. In the first set, senior Gabby Gonzales tallied eight kills on 11 errorless swings with two digs and an ace. In the second, middle Kara McGhee put down five kills on six errorless swings coupled with three blocks. In the close-out fourth, it was Karson Bacon with a perfect 7-for-7 (kills) frame.
 
Almost Perfect
Senior middle blocker Karson Bacon tied the UO single-match record with a .917 hitting percentage, connecting for 11 kills without an error in 12 attacks. She matched the figure established by Serena Warner in 2014 against Washington State. Bacon also tied her season high with the 11 kills.
