WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team secured a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-19, 25-20) at Wake Forest Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened
- Duke was once again led offensively by Gracie Johnson with 20 kills and just three errors to hit an impressive .447 percent. She also added four digs and two blocks to showcase her all-around game.
- Setter Devon Chang dished 36 assists while Georgia Stavrinides tallied six blocks, including two solo, to lead the unit at the net. Sydney Yap tallied two aces.
- Both teams came out of the gate early with solid hitting percentages as the Blue Devils tallied 16 kills to hit .300. Johnson found her offensive rhythm quickly with seven and no errors for a .500 clip.
- Leading 1-0, Duke extended its lead with help from its blocking contingent as Stavrinides tallied three at the net to limit Wake Forest to a .067 percentage. Johnson carried her momentum from the opening set and continued swinging for eight kills and just one error.
- Kerry Keefe tallied four kills and no errors on seven swings to hit .571 to help the Blue Devils post their best offensive output of the afternoon.
Notes
- Duke improved to 14-11 overall and 5-9 in the ACC.
- Head coach Jolene Nagel captured her 681st career victory and her 478th at the helm of the Blue Devils.
- Duke moves the all-time series to 59-19 in favor of the Blue Devils.
- Johnson tallied her 12th career match with 20 or more kills and led the team in kills for the 20th time this season.
