Duke Welcomes Wake Forest, Virginia Tech


DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team welcomes Wake Forest and Virginia Tech to Cameron Indoor Stadium for two matches this weekend. Opening serve against the Demon Deacons is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday before a 1 p.m. contest against the Hokies on Sunday.

Duke completed the rivalry sweep with victories over North Carolina (3-1) and NC State (3-2).
 
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
WAKE FOREST
Duke and Wake Forest meet for the 80th time in program history as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series 60-19. Duke has won 14 of the last 16 meetings.
VIRGINIA TECH
Duke and Virginia Tech meet for the 41st time in program history as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series 34-6. Duke has won eight of the last 10 meetings.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

WAKE FOREST

Wake Forest enters Friday’s contest 16-7 overall and 7-5 in the ACC. The Demon Deacons most recently dropped a 3-0 match at No. 7 Pittsburgh, but took No. 5 Louisville to five sets a couple of weeks ago. Offensively, Wake Forest is led by Paige Crawford with 289 kills and Ava Carney with 251 kills. Setter Rian Baker owns 697 assists while Emma Farrell leads the way defensively with 337 digs. Emmy Ogogor and Dior Charles lead the blocking unit with 77 and 69 total blocks, respectively. As a team, Wake Forest is hitting .228 percent this fall.

VIRGINIA TECH

Virginia Tech enters Sunday’s contest 12-11 overall and 2-10 in the ACC. The Hokies are led by Elayna Duprey with 208 kills while Ava Francis owns 175. Setter Hanna Borer has dished 796 dimes for 9.36 assists/set while Iliana Rodriguez leads the defensive charge with 336 digs. Cara Lewis paces the blocking contingent with 68 total blocks. Virginia Tech is hitting .211 percent this fall.
