Duo Earns Academic All-America Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – Outside hitter Caitie Baird and libero Elena Oglivie have been named Academic All-Americans, landing on the first and third teams, respectively, as voted on by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA.

It is the first career recognition for both Baird and Oglivie, who are the 15th and 16th Academic All-Americans in program history. The Cardinal now boasts 24 CSC Academic All-America awards all-time.

A native of Indianapolis, Baird becomes the eighth Cardinal to earn CSC first team honors. An All-Pac-12 and AVCA all-region performer, she was second on the team with 3.32 kills and 3.91 points per set in 2022. Baird is the 11th player in school history to be named both an athletic (first, second or third team) and academic All-American at some point during their career.

Oglivie, who hails from Honolulu, was an AVCA All-America honorable mention pick this season. She led the Pac-12 with 4.42 digs per set and her 517 digs were the ninth-most in a single season in school history. The Pac-12 Libero of the Year registered double-digit digs in 30 consecutive matches.

To be eligible, student-athletes must carry a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher, be at least a sophomore academically and be a starter or significant contributor. For more information regarding the Academic All-America® program, visit https://academicallamerica.com/.
