PITTSBURGH – Head Coach Dan Fisher and the Pitt volleyball program are excited to announce Shaun Ermi to the staff as an assistant coach. Ermi comes to Pittsburgh after stops at Loyola Chicago, Ohio State and Springfield College.
“It is with great excitement that we welcome Shaun into the Pitt volleyball family,” says Head Coach Dan Fisher. “He comes from a great playing and coaching background, and he has experience in multiple areas of coaching. We expect him to make a big impact. What stood out about him in the interview process was his commitment to learning, student-athlete development and his desire to grow. We feel he will be a wonderful addition to our coaching team.”
Most recently, Ermi served as the assistant coach at Loyola Chicago, working primarily with the pin hitters and serve receive unit. He handled travel and logistics, helped with scouting and managed VolleyStation. The Ramblers recorded a 19-12 overall record and went 16-2 in the Atlantic 10 in the 2023 season.
As a volunteer assistant at Ohio State in 2022, Ermi helped with coding and statistics in game for real-time trends for both the men’s and women’s programs. The women reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 2004 while the men reached the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Prior to his stint in Columbus, Ermi spent two seasons at Springfield College as an assistant coach for the men’s volleyball program. Ermi joined the college coaching ranks after coaching at the club level for Elite Volleyball Club from 2019 to 2020.
Ermi also spent a summer as an assistant coach for the OVR Girls All-Stars at the 2022 USA National Team Development Program (NTDP) Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“I’m extremely grateful to be joining the Pittsburgh volleyball program. This is an amazing opportunity to be a part of such a special program, anchored by high character and extremely driven people with Coach Fisher leading the way. I look forward to helping our student-athletes grow and learn during their time in the volleyball program – Hail to Pitt!”
