FIVB EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE LOOKS AHEAD TO VOLLEYBALL’S BRIGHT FUTURE

Various exciting initiatives were discussed during the recent meeting

The FIVB Executive Committee this week hosted a hybrid meeting to discuss the latest innovations and achievements in sport while looking ahead to the bright future of volleyball with many new and important initiatives explored.

With the Continental Confederation Presidents joining from the FIVB Headquarters, the FIVB Executive Committee heard updates on volleyball and beach volleyball events and were also presented with the latest information from Volleyball World by its CEO, Finn Taylor.

2023 has been a very successful year for volleyball and beach volleyball, with the sports captivating audiences globally through a series of world-class competitions. These competitions included the Volleyball Nations League (VNL), Beach Pro Tour, Beach Volleyball World Championships, Olympic Qualification Tournaments and various age-group events.

In his opening remarks, FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° also shared the latest achievements through the revolutionary Volleyball Empowerment and Development programmes, stating:

“Over the past decade, we have not only transformed the reality of our sport by introducing a range of innovations on and off the field of play, but we have also provided opportunities to all 222 National Federations through our revolutionary programmes of Volleyball Empowerment and Development!

“Since 2017, the FIVB has approved a total of 840 projects from 194 National Federations across all five Continental Confederations. This support totals an investment of more than CHF 23 million. These projects are delivering great results, which we consistently share with you through the FIVB website and newsletters. All the data is transparently available through the FIVB Project Dashboard Data Visualisation tool.”

The FIVB Executive Committee also discussed the next steps on launching the FIVB Foundation and announcing the detailed Volleyball Calendar 2025-2028.

FIVB Foundation To Be Launched In 2023!

Additionally, the FIVB Executive Committee approved the re-location of Luxembourg from the Small Countries Zonal Association (SCA) to the Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA) following the approval of the CEV Board of Administration.
