The FIVB President looks ahead to another incredible year for volleyball and beach volleyball
As 2024 begins, the excitement builds for another exhilarating year of volleyball and beach volleyball action.
With Olympic qualification well underway, the focus of the first half of the year will be on the journeys of national volleyball and beach volleyball teams vying for coveted spots at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. To those teams still in pursuit of a ticket, I extend my heartfelt best wishes for a successful outcome.
From May to June 2024, fans worldwide will be captivated by the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024, as teams compete for the prestigious title while also seeking valuable FIVB World Rankings points before the final five Olympic qualification spots are determined after the preliminary rounds.
In beach volleyball, teams will be striving to secure a spot at the Games by accumulating FIVB Olympic Ranking points. The first half of the Beach Pro Tour, entering its third season, will present a key opportunity to gain points as the beach festival wows fans in fantastic locations across the globe.
All eyes will turn to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 in the summer, with the French capital set to welcome the world from 26 July to 11 August. Once again, our sports will be among the hottest tickets of the Games.
Beach volleyball will be making its eighth appearance at the Games, as the world’s best players battle for Olympic gold at the enchanting Eiffel Tower Stadium. The venue, nestled at the foot of France’s most iconic building, promises to place beach volleyball at the heart of Paris 2024, making it a celebration like no other.
Meanwhile, volleyball will unfold at the South Paris Arena, situated within Paris Expo. With France defending its Tokyo 2020 men’s title, we anticipate a fierce competition, filled with sporting excellence, ensuring the stands are packed and noisy, and the atmosphere is electric.
Throughout the year, our revolutionary Volleyball Empowerment programme will once again be open 365 days a year for all 222 of our NFs to apply for support. Volleyball Empowerment support has a long-lasting impact and produces fantastic results, which we regularly share with you through the FIVB website and newsletters. So I encourage you all to submit worthy projects so that we can best assist you.
