Franklin Nominated for ESPY | Wisconsin Badgers

MADISON, Wis. – Sarah Franklin of the Wisconsin volleyball team has been nominated for the 2024 ESPYS, announced by the ESPYS Wednesday. Best College Athlete, Women’s Sports, is the category in which Franklin has been nominated for.

The six-foot-four outside hitter had a prolific senior season, tallying three Player of the Year awards, Big Ten, AVCA Northeast Region, and AVCA National Player of the Year. Franklin is just the second in program history to be named to the prestigious list of honorees of AVCA National Player of the Year behind Dana Rettke (2021). In 2023, she also added AVCA First Team All-American honors to her resume.

Franklin is just the third athlete in Badger athletics to be nominated for an ESPY as a current student-athlete.

  • Blake Geoffrion, men’s hockey, 2010 nominee for Best Male College Athlete.
  • Frank Kaminsky, men’s basketball, 2015 nominee for Best Male College Athlete

Also nominated with Franklin is Haleigh Bryant, LSU gymnastics; Caitlin Clark, Iowa women’s basketball; and Izzy Scane, Northwestern lacrosse.

The 2024 ESPYS will televise LIVE on ABC Thursday, July 11th at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, Calif., and hosted by Serena Williams.
