Iran announce Paris 2024 training camp squad

Seventeen players have been summoned to a training camp by Iran as the reigning world and Paralympic champions begin their preparations for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Head coach Hadi Rezaei have selected Sadegh Bigdeli, Hamidreza Abbasi, Mahdi Babadi, Alireza Poursemnani, Majid Lashgari, Ramezan Salehi, Morteza Mehrzad, Hossein Golestani, Mohammad Nemati, Jamal Nazar, Ghasem Eslami, Masoud Emami, Meisam Alipour, Meisam Hajbabaei, Isa Zirahi, Hossein Farzaneh and Davoud Alipourian to join the training camp, which will take place from January 5-12 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.


Assisting coach Hadi Rezaei are national coaches Jalil Imeri, Amin Asghari, Hasan Mohammadi and strength and conditioning coach Hadi Sajedinia.

The camp is organised by the I.R. Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled in partnership with the National Olympic Committee (NPC) of Iran.

World No. 1 Iran will be aiming for a golden hat trick at Paris 2024 after winning gold at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, extending their success in the quadrennial with a total of eight gold medals.

Since winning the Paralympic gold in 2021, Iran have won the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championship in Sarajevo in 2022, followed by continental gold medals at the ParaVolley Asia Oceania Zone Championships and Asian Games.

Their latest success was at the 2023 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup, beating African powerhouse squad Egypt in the final.
