Lady Vols Add All-American Rightside Ajack Malual

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee volleyball added transfer Ajack Malual, a two-time All-Pacific West Conference rightside, head coach Eve Rackham Watt announced Thursday.

“Our staff is excited about the addition of Ajack to our roster this summer,” Rackham Watt said. “She is a player who we believe has a tremendous amount of potential and could really blossom in our program. As an opposite, she has a lightning fast arm with great range and will be a point scorer on the right side for us. She comes with high-level international experience as well as two seasons of college volleyball under her belt. That experience will be invaluable as we add her to our relatively young team this summer. We can’t wait to welcome her to Rocky Top.”

A native of Rome, Italy, Malual spent her first two years in college competing for Chaminade at the Division II level, where she tallied 539 kills on .251 hitting, 192 digs, 99 blocks and 51 aces. Throughout her career, she eclipsed double-digit kills in a match 25 times, notched multiple blocks on 25 occasions and recorded multiple aces 15 times.

A sophomore in 2023, Malual earned AVCA All-America Third Team honors and was All-Pacific West Conference First Team selection after a breakout season. She posted 382 kills on .270 hitting, 161 digs, 68 blocks and 51 aces—all major improvements from her freshman year. Her 51 aces and 0.45 aces per set were both conference highs after not recording an ace her first season on campus. She was third in the PacWest in points per set (4.12) and fourth in kills per set (3.35).

During the 2022 campaign, Malual garnered All-Pacific West Conference Second Team while helping Chaminade win the conference title, earn a spot in the NCAA West Regional Final and finish with an AVCA national ranking in the final poll of the season. She ended her freshman year with 157 kills, 31 digs and 31 blocks in 78 sets played.

Prior to playing collegiately, Malual graduated from Tambosi ETI in Trento, Italy, and she was a member of the Italian U18 National Team.

Malual is the third transfer to sign with the Lady Vols this offseason, joining outside hitter Hayden Kubik, who was ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit by PrepVolleyball.com in the 2022 class when she signed with Nebraska, and 2023 CAA Player of the Year from Towson, Nina Cajic.
