Lewis Men’s Volleyball Drops Match Against Purdue Fort Wayne Friday

FORT WAYNE, Ind.  – The Lewis University men’s volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback on the road against Purdue Fort Wayne at Hilliard Gates Sports Center on Friday evening (Feb. 24).

SET BREAKDOWN

FIRST SET: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 23

  •  Both teams went back-and-forth to start the first set trading eight points each. 
  • Purdue Fort Wayne rallied for three straight points to grab an 11-8 lead.
  • The Flyers tried to get back in the set after a kill from Morgan made it 16-14 Mastodons but PFW scored three straight to grab a 19-14 advantage.
  • Moments later, Lewis fought back again after Christian Prayer (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) recorded a kill to make it 22-21.
  • PFW was able to hang on and win the first set 25-23.

SECOND SET: Purdue Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 12

  • The second set was all Mastodons as PFW grabbed a 7-1 lead before Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) recorded a kill to try to get the Flyers back in the set.
  • Lewis fought back all the way to 8-6 in favor of Purdue Fort Wayne after another kill from Sack. 
  • PFW went on a 11-2 rally to grab a 19-8 lead.
