Londot Named AVCA Regional Player of the Year, Four Buckeyes Earn All-Region – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches’ Association (AVCA) announced its regional awards on Tuesday. Junior opposite Emily Londot was named Northeast Region Player of the Year. Senior libero Kylie Murr and senior setter Mac Podraza joined Londot on the Northeast All-Region Team. Senior outside Gabby Gonzales was an honorable mention.

This is Londot’s third year being named All-Region, as she was also the AVCA Region Freshman of the Year in 2020. Following the conclusion of the regular season, Londot was named All-Big Ten First Team. Londot ranks fifth in the conference in both kills per set (3.82) and points per set (4.35) this season. She became the ninth player in program history and first since Oct. 2016 to be named GameChanger/AVCA Division I Player of the Week on Nov. 14. Londot was named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team and went on to earn three Big Ten Player of the Week nods (Sept. 5, Sept. 12, Nov. 14). She is one of 18 players in Ohio State history to total at least 1,000 kills and 600 digs. This season, Londot has 10+ kills in 27 matches, 20+ kills in two matches, 10+ digs in 13 matches and 20+ digs once. She has a team-high 14 double-doubles.

Murr was the AVCA Region Freshman of the Year in 2019 and earned an honorable mention for the all-region team last season. Last week, Murr became the first player in program history to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, also being named All-Big Ten First Team. Murr leads the Big Ten in digs per set (4.79) this season, which ranks second among single-season program records and only trails her average from 2019. She earned three Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season (Oct. 3, Oct. 24, Nov. 14). Murr became the program’s all-time career digs leader on Nov. 18 and now totals 1,908 digs, also holding the career record for digs per set. Her 503 digs this season ranks seventh in program history and is just one dig shy of her 2021 season total. This season, Murr has totaled 10+ digs in 27 matches, 20+ digs in 10 matches and 30+ digs in two matches, including a career-high 35 digs on Nov. 18 to break the program record.

This is Podraza’s third-consecutive season making the AVCA All-Region Team. Last week, Podraza became the first Buckeye to be named Big Ten Setter of the Year and also earned her spot on the All-Big Ten First Team.
