Londot Named GameChanger/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches’ Association announced on Tuesday that junior opposite Emily Londot was named GameChanger/AVCA Division I Player of the Week. Londot was also named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.

Londot led the Buckeyes to four-set wins at No. 15 Purdue and against No. 4 Nebraska last week, averaging 5.25 kills, 4.00 digs and a block per set and tallying two double-doubles on the week. Against the Boilermakers, Londot matched her (then) season-high 19 kills (hitting .368) and added 11 digs and four blocks. Against the Huskers, Londot totaled 23 kills (just one shy of her career-high), hitting .353, and had a career-high 21 digs in addition to four blocks. She had 12 kills in the first set alone, including back-to-back kills when the Buckeyes trailed 29-28 to set up set point. These are her ninth and 10^th double-doubles of the season, leading the team.

This season, Londot leads the team with 3.87 kills/set and 4.42 points/set, both of which rank fifth in the Big Ten. She’s also second on the team (leads non-liberos) with 2.53 digs/set. Londot has been named Big Ten Player of the Week three times this season including this week.

Londot is the ninth player in program history to earn national player of the week honors and the first since Taylor Sandbothe on Oct. 4, 2016.
