ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Empire 8 Athletic Conference released its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, with Elmira outside hitter Luke Jata ’27 earning rookie of the week honors for men’s volleyball in the final week of the regular season.
The freshman from Smithtown, N.Y. played in eight sets across two matches over the weekend, slamming 19 kills while recording 14 digs, two total blocks, two service aces, and one set assist. In Elmira’s match against Wilkes, Jata tallied career-highs in digs with nine and kills with 13. He also paced the squad with six kills against Juniata.
This is Jata’s fourth rookie of the week award of the season, with his other three selections coming on 1/16, 2/5, and 3/18.
