Men's Volleyball Finishes 2022 Season With a Sweep of Drew


MADISON, N.J. – The Elizabethtown College men’s volleyball team closed out the 2022 with a sweep of Drew in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Blue Jays finish the season 14-11 while the Rangers fall to 8-16 in their inaugural season. 

Junior Steve Swain and sophomore Nick Chapman paced Etown, finishing with a team-high seven kills each. Junior Cameron Krebs tallied double digit kills for the sixth time this season, recording 12. Sophomore Nate Seeger registered a match-high 20 assists. Swain and Sophomore Eric Hierl each had a team-high two block assists.

Omarf Ortega-Reyes finished with a match-high 11 kills to lead the Rangers.

Holding a one point lead (8-7) early in the first set, Etown rattled off a 11-4 run to move ahead 19-11. Swain finished with two kills and two aces over this stretch, while junior Tony Camillo and Chapman each racked up two kills. The Blue Jays remained in front by eight to the end, taking the opening frame 25-17.

Etown fell behind 8-7 early in the second set before scoring seven consecutive points to move ahead 14-8. Chapman highlighted the run with two kills. Drew battled off set-point late, using a 3-0 run to close within five (24-19) but the Blue Jays shut the door, increasing its advantage to 2-0 with the 25-19 win.

In the third and final set, the Rangers hung around to the end of the set, trailing by just three points at 19-16. Etown responded in a big way, scoring six of the final points to complete the sweep with the 25-17 victory. Chapman, sophomore Cody Boyer, and junior Cheston Jacobs each had a kill in the final run. 

Elizabethtown returns 16 of 17 player for the 2023 season. Senior Tim Zeiber graduates as the first four-year player in program history.
