Murr and Podraza Earn Major Big Ten Awards, Five Buckeyes All-Conference – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its end of season women’s volleyball awards on Wednesday following the conclusion of the regular season. Senior libero Kylie Murr was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and senior Mac Podraza was named Big Ten Setter of the Year, both firsts for the Ohio State women’s volleyball program.

Junior opposite Emily Londot joined Murr and Podraza on the All-Big Ten First Team, while senior outside Gabby Gonzales and junior middle Rylee Rader were on the All-Big Ten Second Team. Senior outside Mia Grunze was named a Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree.

Murr leads the Big Ten in digs per set (4.79) this season, which ranks second among single-season program records and only trails her average from 2019. She earned three Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season (Oct. 3, Oct. 24, Nov. 14). Murr became the program’s all-time career digs leader on Nov. 18 and now totals 1,879 digs, also holding the career record for digs per set. Her 474 digs this season ranks 10th in program history. This season, Murr has totaled 10+ digs in 25 matches, 20+ digs in 10 matches and 30+ digs in two matches, including a career-high 35 digs on Nov. 18 to break the program record.

Podraza consistently led the Big Ten in assists per set (11.08) this season. She was named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team and then was named Big Ten Setter of the Week five times during the season (Sept. 12, Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 31, Nov. 14). Podraza ranks fifth in program history with 3,843 career assists here at Ohio State after beginning the season in 10th and also ranks sixth in assists per set throughout her career. Podraza has recorded 11 double-doubles this season (all assists and digs) and has averaged 10 assists per set in 19 matches.

Londot ranks fifth in the conference in both kills per set (3.82) and points per set (4.36) this season. She became the ninth player in program history and first since Oct. 2016 to be named GameChanger/AVCA Division I Player of the Week on Nov. 14. Londot was named to the preseason All-Big Ten Team and went on to earn three Big Ten Player of the Week nods (Sept. 5, Sept. 12, Nov. 14). She is one of 18 players in Ohio State history to total at least 1,000 kills and 600 digs. This season, Londot has 10+ kills in 25 matches, 20+ kills in two matches, 10+ digs in 13 matches and 20+ digs once. She has a team-high 13 double-doubles.
